Thanks
to all the families who have sent in their family photo. They look great!
We have been having fun with a new friend
this week. Ms. Ann had to be off for 2
weeks to help care for her husband after a knee surgery Monday. We have had Ms. Marion as her substitute, and
we’ve enjoyed her very much.
Thanks
to all who ordered Scholastic books in September! We will be sending the October order forms home today/Monday. Ordering online is easy, and gives you a big variety! EACH CHILD IS RECEIVING A COUPON FOR A FREE BOOK UP TO $5, WITH A $10 PURCHASE! Also, thanks to those who have been sending
in their September Family Fun Homework- Ms. Fish’s cards. She has LOVED our “deliveries” each day! Feel free to send one in if you have
not. Thanks!
This month our
data focus is WH questions, print concepts, and sorting. We will be working on
those skills through various activities here at school. You can help out at home too. When cleaning up you can have your child pick
up toys by color, shape, size, etc. Book
skills can be practiced when reading to your child. Have them show you the front of the book, the
back of the book, where to start reading, have them point to a picture, letter,
or word. For younger children have them
pretend to read the book to you. That
will give you an idea if they know how to hold a book and turn the pages. They
can tell you what is going on in the pictures.
Please
continue to work on letter recognition, number recognition, counting, and
printing your name. Thanks so much for your help from home! I’ve been assessing all of these areas which
will be on the upcoming progress reports.
These will be discussed at the upcoming Parent Teacher conferences on
October 5th and 6th.
I’ll look
forward to seeing all of my students in their PAJAMAS on Monday!!
(and sports gear Tuesday/Super Hero/Princess Wednesday/Hats
Thursday/80’s Friday!!)
Have a
great weekend!
Ms. Mitchel
